Academic Ambassador Xiaoxia Zhuang:

Born in Guilin, China and raised in Auburn, Alabama, I am a graduate of Auburn High School where I was in the IB program and an AP Scholar with Distinction.  Most recently, I graduated from Swarthmore College with a degree in English Literature and Film/Media Studies.  Previous employment experiences include working extensively with Swarthmore College’s Admissions Office and working as a Translator and Education Assistant at the Shanghai Museum.

As the Academic Ambassador for Shenzhen Foreign Language School, I will be working with you to select American colleges and understand the application process.  In addition to hosting presentations that will introduce the different components and types of American colleges, I will be running workshops that will help improve your critical reading and expository writing skills.  I will also devote time to creating extracurricular opportunities for you to participate in.  The American college application process is very different from China's gaokao examination system.  In the United States, standardized tests are only a part of your application.  American colleges look for students who are "not just numbers" but exhibit intellectual and extracurricular passions.  My goal is to not only help you get admitted into the college of your choice, but to teach you the skills for you to thrive during your college years.
